John Arthur Leech Sr., 73, died Monday, May 19, 2014, at the Mayo Surgical Hospital in Scottsdale. He was born Nov. 6, 1940, in Jonesburg, Ark., to Austin and Irene (Horne) Leech.
John graduated from El Camino High School in California. He served honorably in the United States Army in 1958.
In 1967, John decided to make the White Mountains his home. He brought with him his knowledge and defined quality work of refinished paint work to automobiles. He owned and operated several body repair shops in Show Low; his current shop is Nu Look Auto Body Inc. He had over 45 years of experience in his profession. When not working, John enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and boating. He was a lifetime member of the Show Low Elks Lodge 2090.
John is survived by his wife, Becky Leech; children: Debbie Durran (Robert), Michael Leech, John Leech Jr. (Raila), Heather Cowger (James) and Jessica Ballandby; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 24, at the Show Low Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1401 E. Deuce of Clubs. A public viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 23, at Owens Livingston Mortuary - White Mountain Chapel, 320 N. Ninth St., Show Low, and one hour prior to services at the church.
Concluding services and interment will be at the Show Low Cemetery.
