(Thomsen) Johnson passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 22, 2014, at the age of 92. LaVon was born in Minden, Neb., on June 26, 1921. She was the eldest of six children and survived them all. In June 1957, LaVon, her husband LeRoy, and their children, Neal, Roger and Diane, arrived in Phoenix from Hastings, Neb. LeRoy had a job offer in Phoenix (through the IBEW), but let it be known that he would prefer a cooler climate. He then was offered a job in Prescott with APS and the family has now lived in Prescott for 57 years. Years later, their daughter, Debbie, was born. LaVon sold Avon products, worked at Morris Maler's shirt factory and was a dietician at the VA Hospital. Throughout her life here in Prescott, LaVon made many wonderful friends: Annie Payne, Muffy Vallely, Olga Rodstrum, Cordilla Black, Lee and Jeannie Paul, Dolores Glattfelder, Verle York, Margie Glover and so many more - you know who you are. LaVon was blessed with four children, 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. LaVon's life was filled with happy days, family fun and building fond memories. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Her family wants to say a special thank you to her caregiver and friend, Tina Mariotto, and the Hospice Family Care Inc. of Prescott.
