The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona Wednesday, May 28, 2014 Glodyne Smith Cowley, age 89, passed away May 22 in Sun City West. Glodyne was born Oct. 20, 1924 in Owensboro, Ky., to Homer and Florence Smith. She was raised in Cave Creek, growing up on the family ranch. Glodyne graduated from North Phoenix High School and later attended University of Arizona. She worked for years in accounting with Valley National Bank and later began working with Cypress Mining Company and then BP Petroleum in its mining operation in Bagdad. She and husband Bill retired in the mid-1980s and came to Wickenburg in 1990. She enjoyed volunteering and served at the Wickenburg Chamber of Commerce and also worked briefly with Ron Badowski, CPA. Glodyne was a member of the Elks Lodge Ladies Auxillary. She was preceded in death by son Smith Gloyd Cowley in 1972. She is survived by her husband Gloyd “Bill” Cowley of Wickenburg; daughters Cindy Scarbrough of Phoenix and Candy Morgan of Parks, Ariz.; sister Charlotte Webb of Phoenix; grandchildren Bill Cowley and Shawn Cowley, Michael Scarbrough, William Scarbrough, Callie Morgan, Charles Morgan; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
