The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Sunday, June 01, 2014 Kathy Eckart passed away May 28, 2014, in Prescott Valley, Ariz., at age 71. She was born March 27, 1943, in Kansas City, Mo., to Evelyn and Harold Lavin. Kathy is survived by her husband of more than 48 years, Bob, of Prescott Valley; daughter Kim Eckart; son-in-law Bill Reader; granddaughter Kate of Seattle; sister Mary Ann Lavin, CSJ, of St. Louis; and brothers Jim Lavin of Kansas City and Mike Lavin of Warsaw, Mo. Kathy is preceded in death by her parents and brothers Pat and Tom Lavin. Over the years, Kathy and her family lived in several places around the country, settling in Prescott Valley upon retirement. She and her husband lived here off and on since 1997. Kathy's primary enjoyments in life involved the activities and achievements of her daughter, and in recent years, her granddaughter, now 10. Kathy was a member of St. Germaine's Catholic Church in Prescott Valley, where a memorial mass will be said at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, with lunch to follow. The family is very grateful for the care Kathy received during the past year from the marvelous staff at Aspen Creek Care Home, Prescott Valley. It is suggested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Information provided by survivors.
