FALL, Sylvia (Jeanne)

(Maiden Name: Axelson)

Vistoso Funeral Home, Oro Valley, Arizona Sylvia J Fall April 30, 1933 - May 2, 2014 Jeanne died peacefully at home in Tucson after a courageous battle with cancer, two days after her 81st Birthday, a milestone she wanted to make. Born in Fordville, ND to Andrew and Stella Axelson, she lived in MN, WA and then moved with her beloved husband Clyde and three children, Cyndi (Welch), Brad and Michael to Anchorage, AK in June 1960. Only expecting to stay two years Alaska became her home. Jeanne and Clyde became ‘snowbirds’ in 1982, splitting their time between homes in Anchorage and then Sterling, AK and Yuma and then Tucson, AZ. They met and made many friends traveling all over the US in their motor home. Jeanne and Clyde met in the summer of 1949 in Sandpoint, ID.. Jeanne was 16 and Clyde was 20. They married in December of 1949 and celebrated 64 happy years of marriage in December 2013. They had a 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration in Seattle WA in 1999 attended by friends and family from 6 states. Jeanne is survived by her loving husband, daughter and two sons, brother Allen Axelson, sister Susan Hudson, 5 Grandchildren and six Great Grandchildren. Jeanne was very social, enjoying her Red Hats and TOPS clubs and loved to cook; she invited friends and family over often for meals and was known for her ‘salmon bakes’ using salmon caught at their property in Sterling, AK. Jeanne always preferred to smile and chose to laugh, even during grueling chemo sessions. She was an inspirational and irreplaceable wife and mother and a great friend to many. We will miss her every day. Our heartfelt thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and staff at AZ Oncology and Casa de La Luz Hospice in Tucson. A Memorial Service for Jeanne will be held in July in Sterling, AK.
