ECHEVERRIA, Rachel Marie

The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Wednesday May 28, 2014 Echeverria, Rachel M. 85, of Buckeye, AZ went peacefully to the Lord on May 23, 2014. Born at home on March 1, 1929, to Fermin and Benancia Echeverria in Wickenburg, AZ. After graduating from St. Mary's Girls' High School, she graduated from Arizona State Teachers College with a degree in teaching and went on to teach 42 years at St. Mary's High School where she was later inducted into the St. Mary's Hall of Fame. She is survived by her sister, Irene E. Aja of Buckeye, AZ and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Deeply devoted to her faith, she volunteered for many years at Our Lady of Perpetual Help-Glendale and St. Thomas Aquinas-Avondale. Services are Wednesday, May 28th, at St. Mary's Basilica, 9:00 visitation/rosary, 10:00 funeral Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's High School or St. Thomas Aquinas Grade School
