Jet MacDonald LaZarre - 1927-2011 Hampton Funeral Home - The Independent, Ashland, Kentucky PRESCOTT, AZ — Jet MacDonald LaZarre, age 83, passed way on June 27, 2011, in Prescott, Ariz. She was born Oct. 25, 1927, in Ashland, to James and Charlene (Hemlepp) MacDonald. Jet spent her early years in Ashland and after graduating from high school moved to NYC and studied at The Juilliard School. She had a successful career in musical theatre as an actress and singer on Broadway and around the country from the mid-1940s through the 1950s. In the 1960s, she relocated to the Los Angeles area and worked in commercials and television until her family grew and that became her focus. After her children were grown, she became an integral part of the local community theater in Brockport, N.Y., and taught voice lessons. She moved to Northern California in 1991 with her husband, Adam, where she spent her time as an avid Jazzercizer and enjoying retirement. She relocated to Prescott in August 2010. She is survived by her three children, Julie Susan LaZarre-Miller (Tony) of Prescott, Adam Robert LaZarre (Angie) of Paso Robles, Calif., and Carrie Lisa LaZarre of Ithaca, N.Y.; and granddaughter, Sarina Catherine of Paso Robles. She was preceded in death by her husband, Adam Maurice LaZarre in 1996. A memorial service will be on July 26 at the National Cemetery in Prescott where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations, in Jet’s name, be made to organizations dealing in the areas of treatment or research for breast cancer.
