BROHAS, Dolores Louise

(Maiden Name: Dignan)

Vistoso Funeral Home, Oro Valley, Arizona Dolores Louise Brohas February 4, 1938 - May 30, 2014 Dolores Louise Brohas (Dignan), beloved daughter of the late Esther and Raymond Dignan, and sister to the late Robert Dignan, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 30, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. She was 76 years of age. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert (Bob) Brohas, her daughter, Cynthia Brohas-Gulacsy (Nick Gulacsy), grand-daughters Amanda L. Heis, Angelica L. Brohas, and Ashley R. Brohas-Gulacsy, and one great-granddaughter, Amira A. Heis. Dolores was born on Feb. 4, 1938 in Dayton, Ohio. She met her husband, Bob, at Skateland Skating Rink in 1953. Realizing they both attended Patterson Co- Op High School, they began dating. She twirled baton and was in the Homecoming Court. A few years after graduation, Dolores and Bob married on January 25, 1958 at Christ Lutheran Church, where they were both leaders for their Lutheran League for several years. Dolores also sang in the church choir with her mother. Dolores and Bob traveled to 40 of the US states during their 56 years together, followed Nascar racing since the 1970’s, and visited at least 1/3 of all the Nascar tracks across the country. One of their most memorable trips made together was in 1960, where they visited Dolores’s Uncle Herman and Aunt Esther Weiland in Tucson, Arizona. It was then that Dolores knew she wanted to live out their retirement nestled next to the Catalina Mountains of Tucson. Thirty-nine years later in 1999, they indeed moved to Saddlebrooke with a breath-taking view of the Catalina Mountains. It was also here that they also celebrated their 50th Golden Wedding Anniversary surrounded by family and friends in January, 2008. As a profession in her late teens and early 20’s, Dolores was a Banker. She was also President of her Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority in 1969. Dolores toiled tirelessly making holiday meals. Family and friends delighted most over her holiday cookies, homemade caramels, and peanut brittle. Her other hobbies and interests included Bowling, Volleyball, raising Dachshunds and Poodles, Arts, Crafts, and Sewing. She was a poised, elegant and selfless lady, who battled pain most of her life with great strength and little complaint. She inspired so many with her beauty and warmth, and though we are comforted in knowing she is no longer in pain and home with God, we shall miss her greatly until we meet up with her again in Heaven. We love you so very much, Dolores. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation in memory of Dolores.
