Silver Creek Mortuary, Taylor, Arizona Maurita Hastings (September 3, 1933 - June 6, 2014) Surrounded by loved ones, Maurita Hastings peacefully fell asleep in Jesus, June 6, 2014. Maurita was born September 3, 1933 to the parents of Daniel and Ella Hastings. Maurita was a faithful member of the Canyon Day Assembly of God Church. She was a loving Aunt, who took time out of her life to care for the children of her brother and their children. She worked as a housekeeper for the former residents of Whiteriver; Mike and Marsha Peddie. There, she was treated like a family member and loved them dearly. Maurita Hastings is survived by her daughter: Merna Hastings; niece: Norine Dewakutu; Grandchildren: Shayla Yazzie, Marche Joe, Windy Joe, Clay Joe, Chance Joe; Great-Grandchildren: Carter Clawson, Kierra Clawson, Amar Clawson, Daelan Yazzie, Tucker Joe, whom all loved her dearly. Maurita is preceded in death by both of her parents: Daniel and Ella Hastings; sister: Delia Griggs; brother and his wife: Cain and Blossom Hastings, niece: Karenita Hastings-Amos and nephew: Jimmie Hastings. The Wake for Maurita Hastings will be Friday, June 13, 2014 at 10 a.m. at 711 South East, Middle St., Canyon Day, Arizona. The Funeral service will be held Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 10 a.m. at the Canyon Day Assembly of God Church, Canyon Day, Arizona. The arrangements are handled by Silver Creek Mortuary.
