Benson Begody, 84, died at his Tuba City home on June 8, 2014 in the presence of his wife Sallie and his caretakers. He was born on January 21, 1930 in Blue Canyon. Benson was one of 13 brothers and 8 sisters.
Ms. Betty Style is the only surviving sister.
He was a veteran as 7 brothers were in the military as well. He served in the Korean War. He is survived by 6 children; 3 sons, 3 daughters , numerous grand-children and great grand-children. The biological mother of his children was Mae Litzen Begody, from Lukachukai, and she died August 10, 1983. He was a faithful Catholic, avid hunter, photographer, and a lengthy employment and retired from his Facility Management position in Chinle Agency, Bureau of Indian Affairs. He was always stressing education, education and more education to all he had contact with.

Norvel Owens Mortuary is handling funeral services. San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church, on Ponderosa Parkway, Flagstaff will be the site of services beginning with viewing 9 – 10 a.m. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Interment will be at the Community Citizens Cemetery in the veteran section in Flagstaff. There will be a luncheon provided at the west Sizzlers Restaurant. All times listed are Mountain Standard Time.
