HERNDON, Gary

The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona July 21, 2013 Herndon, Gary 65, of Chandler, Arizona, succumbed to cancer at his home surrounded by his family on July 12, 2013. Gary spent the majority of his life in the Restaurant and food service industry; owning 3 restaurants in Wickenburg during the 70's and 80's, and lastly working for Shamrock Foods as a salesman for 25 years. Gary was a devoted family man, he enjoyed family get togethers, spending time with his wife in the garden, watching his grandson play sports, cooking great meals and reading about history and politics. Gary was also an avid Sun Devil football fan for 45+ years, never missing a game. Gary is survived by his wife and best friend Diane of 41 years, daughters Rachel Herndon, Andrea Serrano (Billy), and grandson Hayden. Stepbrothers: Jim, K.C. and David Clark. In Law's John Riddering, Cathy (John), Pat, Stella (Lenny), Tony (Gwen) and many nieces nephews and extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents Raymond Herndon (Sherry), Jean Fredinburg (Gilbert). Stepsister Vicki Clark and mother in law Martina Riddering. Gary was a loving and compassionate father, husband, grandfather and friend to all and he will be greatly missed. A special thank you to Banner Hospice for their loving care and support. Also, thank you to Buelers Mortuary for all of the arrangements. The family will receive friends to celebrate Gary's life on Saturday, July 27th, 2013 from 2:00 to 6:00pm at Serrano's Restaurant, 141 S. Arizona Ave., Chandler, Arizona.
