Richard J. Ferguson passed from the arms of his wife of 33 years,
Jeanne, into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, June 5, 2014. He was born
March 3, 1940, to Pearl Albrecht Ferguson and Everett Ferguson in
Waukesha, Wis. He lived his entire life in Wales, Wis., until he moved
to Arizona in September 1986.
Previously, as a young man, he was in the United States Air Force for
four years. He was stationed in Alaska, where he performed crash and
rescue operations. When he returned to Wales at the end of his military
service, he again worked for Generac Corporation in various manager
jobs. Generac has the Waukesha address and when he worked for them,
Robert Kern was the owner and a personal friend.
He also served with the Wales volunteer fire department and served as
fire chief of the department.
Within two weeks after he moved to Arizona in 1986, he was hired as the
material manager at the New American Woodmark Corporation in Kingman.
American Woodmark is based in Winchester, Va. The company began
production in January of 1987. He worked there until his retirement in
2003. During this time and afterward, he volunteered at the Elks No. 468
and St. John's United Methodist Church in Kingman (as a member), doing
usher and various odd jobs in and around the church.
He could always be found every Wednesday morning in the men's Bible
study. He was always remembering that group of men's birthdays by a card
signed by all members of the group. He was also a member of St. John's
Men's Club, always helping there.
He has one son, Everett Ferguson in Alaska; two daughters, Cheryl
Ferguson of Racine, Wis. and Tamara Mueller of Deltona, Fla.; three
grandchildren, Dustin Mueller (Natalie), Nicole Mueller and Everett
Ferguson III; and one great-grandson, Lucas Mueller. Richard has three
stepchildren, whom he considered as his own: Brian K. Durst of Roswell,
Ga., Kevin L. Durst of Sonora, Calif. and Amy Lunsford (Paul) of
Kingman. He has four step-grandchildren (considered his own): Kevin D.
Durst, Krista L. Durst and Kyle L. Durst, all of California, and Alissa
Lunsford of Kingman.
Services will be at St. John's United Methodist Church in Kingman. The
service will be at 1 p.m. with visitation one hour before the service on
Tuesday, June 17. Pastor Michael Bryant will be officiating. There will
be a light lunch at the Elks No. 468 about 3 p.m.
Since Richard was well known in the Kingman area, please, let's make
this a great life celebration/experience for everyone. Richard accepted
the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at the age of eight years.
