Lucille Thompson was born to Charles and Gerti Symes in Hartford, S.D.,
on Dec. 9, 1916. She passed away June 16, 2014, in Kingman, where she
moved with her husband LaVerne and her four children in 1957. They were
on the way to California and stopped in Kingman to say hello to a
friend's brother and were here 30 minutes - and he convinced them to
stay in Kingman and had them both jobs and a place to live.
She is preceded in death by her husband, of 53 years, LaVerne; a sister,
Louise; her parents; her son, Verl; son-in-law, Ron Bowman;
granddaughter, Rhonda Bowman; and three grandsons, Scott See, JR Grizzle
and Matthew Grizzle.
She is survived by a brother, Ray of South Dakota; daughters, Sharon
(George) Mabry and Lea Ann Bowman; son, Butch (Carol) Thompson;
daughter-in-law, Carol E. Thompson, all of Kingman; 14 grandchildren; 24
great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren, mostly all of
Kingman. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Lucille worked at the Kingman hospital for several years until she
retired. She had many friends and was always there for everyone and
volunteered in a lot of facilities. She was a wonderful mother and
grandmother and will be greatly missed by everyone.
A family memorial will be at a later date.
