William "Bill" Gene Montierth was born on Nov. 22, 1932, in Thatcher, Ariz. He entered into the Lord's hands on June 15, 2014, while in the arms of his loving wife Gail of 63 years in the comfort of his own home.
Bill graduated from Safford High and went right into the Navy during the Korean War. He graduated from ASU and went to work for the Treasury Department. Upon his retirement, he moved to Prescott in 1990.
Retirement did not suit Bill very well. He was on the Board of Directors of his HOA, was in charge of police department C.O.P. for 10 years, joined the American Legion Color Guard and volunteered at the hospital YRMC. He was also an active member of his church, Prescott United Methodist Church. Bill was an inspiration for all who knew him especially for those who are dealing with cancer. He was a warrior, fighting a five-year battle.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel and Benjamin, and his sisters Eva and Barbara.
His survivors are his wife, Gail; daughters Linda and Michelle; son Mike (Lisa); and eight grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Prescott United Methodist Church, 505 W Gurley Road. In lieu of flowers, donations to Prescott United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society appreciated.
