STONEMAN, Herbert Wayne (Herb)


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Sunday, June 22, 2014 Herbert Wayne Stoneman, 73, of Prescott Valley, Ariz. passed away on June 18, 2014 of pancreatic cancer. He was born Oct. 10, 1940 in Carrizozo, N.M. to James and Vena May Stoneman. Herb grew up in New Mexico and Colorado where he met and married his wife of 53 years, Jeanette Marie (Lewis). He attended Central High School, Grand Junction, Colo. and Grand Canyon College, Phoenix, Ariz. Herb's life work was as a pastor. He pastored in Arizona, Colorado, Utah and Idaho. He also served as Director of Evangelism for the Utah/Idaho Southern Baptist Convention for 10 years. He was the pastor of First Southern Baptist Church Prescott Valley at the time of his death, but it was often commented that he also had secondary congregations at Safeway, Starbuck's and Einstein's. Herb was known for sharing his love of Jesus at every opportunity and never met a stranger. He is survived by his wife Jeanette Stoneman; children, Melodie Simon (Todd), Dennis Stoneman (Patty), Melissa Reagan (Thomas); grandchildren, Lydon Van Gundy, Ashley Van Gundy, Lindsey Stoneman, Adian Reagan, Addison Reagan, Ciara Simon, Ashton Reagan, Acey Reagan, and Kaleb Stoneman; great-grandson Hayden Van Gundy; sister Nelda Green, brother James Stoneman Jr., sister Betty Miraflor (Jay), and sister Ima Jean Dolan. Services are planned for 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at First Southern Baptist Church Prescott Valley, 2820 N. Pleasant View Drive, Prescott Valley, Ariz.
