BURRIS, James Riley

The Arizona Republican, Sunday Morning, June 30, 1901. The funeral of James Riley Burris, son of Ed Burris and Janie Morse Burris, took place at the home of the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Morse, this morning at 11 a. m. Little Riley, who was 11 years old on the 24th day of March, had been sick for about seven months with a complication of diseases, which finally culminated in dropsy, and in spite of all that could be done he died on Friday at 1:30. For the past month, in the hopes that they might save him, his father had taken him regularly to Phoenix to be treated by physicians, and finally when he became so bad that he couldn't stand the trip, they moved him down there, giving him every attention and care that money and good nursing could bring. Friday evening after his death the body was brought to Mesa to the home of his grandfather, where the funeral was held.
