Phyllis Amata, 71, of Flagstaff, Arizona, passed away on June 22, 2014. Phyllis was born in Boise, Idaho and grew up in Downey, Idaho and San Carlos, California. She moved to Arizona in 1969.
A beloved mother, psychotherapist and friend, Phyllis was, among other things, an English teacher, a writer and poet, a librarian, a factory worker, and a school bus driver. She lived her life with courage, depth and integrity. She loved all artistic endeavor and devoted herself later in life to painting and music. She was interested in everything and loved nature in all its wonder.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter Sarah Louise Walder of Arnhem, The Netherlands.
A memorial service will be held at the Coconino Center for the Arts, Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at 5 p.m. Please bring a flower. Condolences and RSVPs are appreciated and can be sent to forPhyllisAmata@outlook.com.
