ESTES, Gloria Jean

Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Posted: Sunday, June 29, 2014 - Gloria Jean Estes, 74, passed away peacefully June 24, 2014 in Lake Havasu City. Gloria was the first "Ms. Senior Lake Havasu City" '07-'08. She was born on the East Coast and moved to the West Coast in her early 20's. With her go-go boots and her "go-get em" attitude, she managed to buy the bar she once worked in. That was just one of her many careers. Gloria then enjoyed her time as a transit operator for the Orange County Transit Authority, which prepared her for her worldly travels. She was then primed for a return to formal education, where she received a bachelor’s degree in psychology at the Eastern New Mexico University in 1997. Her hobbies included crossword puzzles, creative writing, painting and a free exchange of ideas of a full and better life with family and friends. Her legacy to her family is that she taught us to persevere no matter what adversities we may face. We will keep her memory alive in our hearts. Gloria is survived by her husband of 18 years, Leroy; sister, Pat; two brothers, Les and Danny; children, Diana, Jean, Rose, Buddy, Theresa, Jeff and Scotty; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Thoughts, memories and condolences can be sent directly to the family or through lakehavasumortuary.com. Arrangements are under the care of Lake Havasu Mortuary and Crematory, 2225 N. Kiowa Blvd.
