Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Posted: Wednesday, July 2, 2014 >>> Adele Emmy Conroy <<< >>> Feb. 29, 1928 — June 26, 2014 <<< Adele was born Feb. 29, 1928 to Lawrence and Lucy Buck in Columbus, Ohio. She graduated High School from Bexley School. A pioneering woman, she was the first woman accepted in to the engineering department at Ohio State University. In 1947, she married Harold Edgar Conroy. They had five children in Columbus before moving to Pacoima, Calif. There they had four more children. She worked as a bus driver for Buckley School and was an in- home care provider for other children. After retirement, they moved to Lake Havasu City. At both the Panorama City American Legion and the Lake Havasu Veterans Of Foreign Wars, Harold held multiple elected offices and Adele was a permanent fixture always volunteering her time, efforts and energy. Adele was a vibrant, loving woman blessed with 86 full years of life, 61 years of marriage, nine children, 29 grandchildren, 55 great- grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Adele touched so many lives. Every life she touched was always changed for the better. She was reunited last week with the love of her life, her husband, Harold Edgar Conroy who preceded her in death six years ago. Her son, Paul Franklin Conroy also proceeded her in death. Her surviving children: Mary Cody, Adele (Dada) Engle, Cathy Rappleye, Dorothy Huggs, Harold (Butch) Conroy, Thomas Conroy, Lucy Riffle, Patty Halstead and her brother, Carl Buck ask that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Alzheimer Association, www.alz.org. A celebration of her life is set for 2 p.m., Thursday at Christ Lutheran Church at, 25816 Tournament Road, Santa Clarita, CA 91355.
