Henry R Aviles was born May 23, 1918, in New York City. He didn't care for New York, so he moved West!
Henry lived a full life and accomplished many things. He was married to his beloved wife, Estela, for 56 years, until she passed in 2004.
Henry was a commercial fisherman in the great Northwest for several years. He owned over a dozen businesses and developed commercial property in Santa Barbara on Mission Street.
Henry earned a 4th degree in the Knights of Columbus, and served all the Catholic churches in Santa Barbara for many, many years.
Henry owned Hank's TV & Radio in Santa Barbara for over 25 years. He was president of the Santa Barbara Sportsfishing Club and served as Fish and Game commissioner in Santa Barbara County.
He was an exceptional bowler (Gold in the Prescott Senior Olympics in 2004-2012) and an avid fisherman. He even caught a large catfish in Lynx Lake a month before he passed away on July 5, 2014 (thanks, Frederico!).
He is survived by four children: Carmen, Margo (Mitch), Julie (Raymond) and Mark (Beverly); six grandchildren: Marina (Jimmy), Reyes, Astoria, Weston, Duren and Serene; and three great-granddaughters: KaiLey, Kirra and Kalia.
