OWENS, Eugene

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Friday, July 11, 2014 Eugene Owens, 71, passed away July 2, 2014, at his home in McAlester, Okla. Eugene was born Nov. 7, 1942, in Little Rock, Ark., to parents Pershing Owens and Jewel (Reynolds) Owens. He married Linda Jo Woodhurst in July of 1960. The family moved to Chino Valley, Ariz., in 1970 from California. Eugene and Linda moved to Oklahoma in 1992. Eugene's life experiences varied from grocery clerk to machinist (business owner), and truck driver to security guard. Eugene is survived by his loving sister and her husband, Diane and Dale Dircks; daughters Jolynn Snell, Mary Owens and Kimberly Slonaker; son Eugene Owens Jr.; eight grandchildren, John and Dustin Snell, Briana (Polland) Brown, Colton Polland, David, Josh and Krysti Slonaker and Nicholas Owens; and five great-grandchildren, Presley and John Jr. Snell, Jaycubb, Bayliegh and Abigayle Thomas. Eugene is preceded in death by his daughter, Joellen; son Tommy; loving wife Linda; his brother Richard; and his parents. Services will be 2 p.m. July 11, 2014, at Chino Valley Cemetery.
