Mary Ann McCloskey was called home on July 6, 2014. She was born
November 28, 1933, in New Castle, Pa., to McCready and Genivieve Eroe.
Her family moved from Pennsylvania to Southern California in 1942. She
graduated from Chaffey High School in 1951 and Chaffey College in 1953.
She worked as an accounting clerk for many years at Kaiser Steel. On
Feb. 15, 1958, she married John D. McCloskey and together they raised
five children.
In 1973, she went to work at Vernon Junior High in Montclair, Calif., as
a teacher's aide/math specialist. In 1987, John and Mary Ann retired to
Golden Valley, where they built their home. She always saw the beauty of
the desert and loved watching the sun rise and set in the desert sky.
The two enjoyed traveling together over the years.
After her husband's passing, to keep busy, in 2001, she started working
at the Mohave County Library in Kingman where she worked until her
passing. The library was her other home/family. She loved the people she
worked with and the customers she served, not to mention the books on
the shelves.
Mary Ann was preceeded in death by her husband, John, her brothers,
George and Paul, sisters-in-law, Barbara, Ila and Patsy, brother-in-law,
Bernie, daughter-in-law, Mary Carole, and granddaughter, Amber
Fitzgerald.
She is survived by her brother, Jim Eroe of Fontana, Calif.; her
children, Shawn McCloskey of Brick Town, N.J., Dennis McCloskey, Kathy
Haas, Christy (Steve) Phillips and Colleen McCloskey, all of Golden
Valley; her grandchildren, Kami Fitzgerald, Kelsey (Derik) Smith, Cody
(Lisa) Haas, Clayton Haas, Jessica (Jay) Sutton, Ashley Kanavy (Randy)
McMurray, Tristin (Dustin Mote), Blakely Howes Phillips, Timothy
McCloskey, Joseph Dalton and Erin Dalton; as well as many great-
grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was a wonderful lady and she will truly be missed.
Service will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church, 302 Spring St. in
Kingman, at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 17, with a gathering for friends
and family to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that you make donations to
the American Cancer Society.
