SPENCER, Frank Ronald

The Verde Independent, Cottonwood, Arizona Thursday, July 17, 2014 Frank Ronald Spencer December 4th, 1921 - July 1st 2014 Frank was born on December 4th. 1921 in Maxbass, North Dakota to Frank and Elsie Spencer. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II where he served tours in Saipan, witnessed the raising of the U.S. flag on Iwa Jima, and was on the coastal mainland of Japan. While he was stationed at Camp Pendleton, San Diego, he met his wife of 53 years, Ida K. Keys. After his service in the war, the couple settled in Ojai, California later moving to Ventura. They had three children together, Ronald, Bryce and Roe'zan. In 1953, Frank went to work at OCO Tool Company and continued to live and work in Ventura for 36 years. He and Ida retired to Cottonwood, Arizona. Frank returned to live with his daughter and son-in-law, who cared for him the past two years. He is survived by his daughter Roe'zan Miles, daughters-in-law Berniece Spencer and Kathy Spencer, grandchildren, Jo, Brady, Phillip, Brooke, James and nine great-grandchildren. Frank was a witty, loving man who was surrounded by family that cared for him deeply. He loved sharing a good meal and conversation with others.
