Wallace G Kirkman Jr., 84, passed away peacefully July 19, 2014, after a struggle with cancer. Wally (Kirk) was born Nov. 7, 1929, in Caldwell, Idaho, to Wallace and Myrtle (Musser) Kirkman.
He attended Logan High School in Logan, Utah. Then he went on to Utah State and later received his pharmacy license in 1961 in Pocatello, Idaho. Wally married Donna C. Trabert May 29, 1955. Not long after their marriage, he was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nev., for four years where he received his honorable discharge as 1st Lt. After his discharge in 1961, they returned to Logan to work in his father’s drug store.
In 1964 he moved to Wickenburg and was a pharmacist at the Rexall Drug store. In 1967 they moved to Phoenix and he worked as a pharmacist for Ryan Evans until he retired in 1992. In 2000, he moved his family back to Wickenburg where his wife, Donna, preceded him in death on November 11, 2004. On July 30, 2011, he married the second love of his life, Margrit McClure, she was with him until his life ended.
Memories shared by family and friends would include him as a cheerleader on an all-girls team in high school, a drummer in a 14-piece band putting him through college, and also getting his pilot’s license in 1968 using his GI bill. Don’t forget him driving around town in his 1955 Thunderbird, another love in his life. Wally loved life. He also loved traveling and enjoyed his last cruise with family and friends last January on a trip to the Panama Canal. He was a member of the American Legion Post 12, a member of the Phoenix Thunderbird club and a lifetime member of the Elks.
Greatly missed by family and friends, he is survived by son Brad; wife Margrit; sister Karol Saenz; brothers-in-law Javier Saenz and Bob Trabert; nieces, Suzanne, Kristine and Holly; and nephews Tom and Eddie.
Funeral services were held on July 25 at the Wickenburg Elks Lodge 2160. Arrangements were made by David’s Desert Chapel.
