JOHNSON, Arthea (Artie)

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Wednesday, July 23, 2014 Arthea (Artie) McMullen Johnson at age 97 passed away on July 18, 2014. Artie was born in Altoona, Pa., and raised in Elmira, N.Y. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Arthur Johnson, and her daughter, Jacqueline Ricker of Payson, Ariz. She leaves behind two sons, William Ladd (Mary) of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Gary Ladd (Vivian) of Prescott, Ariz.; a nephew; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Artie held high positions in many organizations in Elmira, N.Y. and Prescott, Ariz., the latest being president and state representative of the American Legion Post 6 Ladies Auxiliary in Prescott. She attended the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Prescott. Artie was a loving and caring person always ready to help those in need. Her interment will be in Horseheads, N.Y., on Aug. 15, 2014. Her family and many friends will miss her. She will always be in our hearts. Information provided by survivors.
