News-Herald (Martinez AZ) Saturday, February 20, 1904, p 4 Beautiful Ceremonies Attending the Interment of Robert Prout Robert Prout, a well known and respected citizen of Congress, died in Prescott on Wednesday morning of this week. He has been sick for some time with miner's consumption, and his end was expected most any time. He had gone to the Sister's Mercy Hospital for treatment. He was a member of the Red Men and Workmen, and was at one time Master Workman of the Congress Lodge of Workmen. His remains were shipped from Prescott back to Congress, where they were interred. Dr Black of the Presbyterian Church delivered a touching funeral oration, and at the cemetery the funeral service of the Red Men and Workmen were both gone over briefly. The members of the two orders were out in full force and uniforms. The funeral cortege was one of the largest ever seen in Congress, which shows in what esteem he was held by his friends and neighbors. He leaves a married daughter, Mrs R L Putnam, to mourn his loss. She and her husband live at Congress. Mr Prout carried insurance to the amount of $2000, in the Workmen, which will go to Mrs Putnam. Peace to his ashes.
