Eastern Arizona Courier (Safford, AZ) - Sunday, February 22, 2009 Deceased Name: Katherine R. Carbajal Katherine R. Carbajal Katherine R. Carbajal, 48, passed away unexpectedly Feb. 14, 2009. Kathy was born Nov. 18, 1960, to Bernice and Domenick Giacoletti. "Miss Kathy," as she was known to her students, worked as a preschool teacher for 14 years in the Morenci School District. Her preschool rooms appealed to all of her students. They were warm and inviting and helped prepare her students for entry into kindergarten. She was a definite asset to the School District, and she loved working with little children.In addition to her teaching job, Kathy joined the Blake Foundation in 2000, working as the Arizona early intervention developmental specialist. In this capacity she provided in-home support to children, from birth to 3 years old, and their families who had special needs. She was an advocate for young children in Greenlee County. She enjoyed both positions, and her work ethics reflected her care and beliefs with what she was doing. Kathy was also a devoted wife, mother and daughter. Her family felt her loving care in all she did. Kathy is survived by her husband, David; daughters Amanda, Marcella and Samantha Carbajal; granddaughter Nicolle Haralson; her parents, Domenick and Bernice Giacoletti; brothers Domenick (Terry), Dennis (Julie) and Michael Giacoletti. Kathy is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Ashlee Haralson. "Miss Kathy" will be missed by all. Funeral services for Katherine Carbajal were conducted Saturday, Feb. 21, at 10 a.m. in the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Morenci. A viewing and rosary were held Friday, Feb. 20, at the Holy Cross Catholic Church from 6-8 p.m. Interment is in the Safford Cemetery. The family suggests any donations be made to David Carbajal.
