Eastern Arizona Courier (Safford, AZ) - Monday, July 3, 2006 Deceased Name: Herlinda L. Carbajal, Herlinda L. Carbajal, 84, passed away June 23, 2006 ,at her home in Safford. She was born in Teonadepa, Sonora, Mexico, on Sept. 30, 1921, to Emiliano Lopez and Maria Rivera Lopez. She was the oldest of seven children. Herlinda grew up in Agua Prieta, Mexico. She married Arturo D. Carbajal of Morenci on Feb. 17, 1951. They were married for 45 years. She became an American citizen May 16, 1961. The couple raised their two sons in Morenci. After retiring in 1977, they moved to Tucson. In 1993, the couple moved back to Safford.Herlinda was preceded in death by her husband, Arturo, in 1996; her brother, Emiliano; and two sisters, Irene Diaz and Euedina Felix. She is survived by her sons, Arthur (Evelyn) of Morenci and Daniel (Olga) of Safford; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; one brother, Walterio of Douglas; and three sisters, Maria and Azucena of Tucson and Amelia of Agua Prieta. She will be greatly missed, but her family is comforted in knowing she has gone on to be with the Lord Jesus Christ. Visitation was June 29 at Morris Safford Funeral Home, and Mass was June 29 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Interment followed at Safford Union Cemetery. Services were entrusted to Morris Safford Funeral Home.
