Betty Joan Head, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and
friend, left this world peacefully to be with our Lord on July 15, 2014,
at her home surrounded by her family.
Betty, a resident of Kingman since 1968, was born in Horatio, Ark., on
April 27, 1941, to John Orval Wester Sr. and Claudia Catherine (Carroll)
Wester. Moving to Arizona with family in 1948, she lived in Winslow,
Sedona and then Flagstaff, where she attended school.
Meeting the love of her life, Lyle Keith Head, they were married on
October 24, 1957, in Sedona. Betty and Keith had three children and
eventually settled in Kingman.
Betty, a stay-at-home mom, worked at raising her family until she went
to work outside her home in 1976. As a valued member of the Mohave
County Treasurer's Office, she retired in December 2006 after 20 years
of faithful service.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Keith; her
parents; and brother, Roger Wester.
She is survived by her sons, Rodney Head (Cindy Wolff) of Bullhead City,
and Terry Head (Nancy Head) and daughter Shelly Wolsey (Drew Morris) of
Kingman; brothers Orval (Francis) Wester of Kykotsmovi, Ariz., Robert
(Karen) Wester of Kingman and sister Rheba Jordan of Flagstaff; nine
grandchildren, Jennifer (Doug) Deal, Cari Head, Ian (Melissa) Head,
Shane (Sherry) Wolsey, Ashley (Lee) Wilson, Shayleigh Wolsey, Jeston
(Katie) Wolsey, TeriAnn (Casey) Curry and Jessica Head; nine great-
grandchildren, Madison, Cassidie, Sammie, Mahayla, Rebekah, Madysyn,
Lucy, Max and Zoey; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Betty was truly a wonderful woman who made this world a better place and
will truly be missed by family and friends.
Services for Betty will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014, at
Calvary Chapel, 500 Stowell Ave. in Kingman.
Our family would like to give special thanks to Hospice Compassus and
her caregiver, Kit, for their compassion and care for our mother.
