Kingman Daily Miner, Kingman, AZ - Published on July 23, 2014 - Janet Jens Conn, 61, died July 19, 2014, in Denver, Colo., where she resided with both her children. Janet was born Jan. 11, 1953, in Hammond, Ind., and was the daughter of Elvin and Ethel Jens. Her family moved to Santa Ana, Calif., when she was 8 years old. As a freshman at the University of Arizona, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a disease that she fought courageously for the rest of her life. Janet graduated from the University of Arizona in 1976 and taught at Kingman Junior High School for 17 years before having to take a medical retirement. She is survived by her husband, Steven Conn of Kingman; a daughter, Jennifer Conn of Denver; a son, Joshua (Makara) Conn of Denver; grandchildren Ethan Conn and Harper Conn of Denver; brother Jeffrey (Sharon) Jens of Redding, Calif.; sister Judith Calsoyas of Phoenix; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Elvin and Ethel Jens. A private ceremony for her family will be held at a later date.
