Andrew J. Carroll
Memorial services will be held Thursday, Aug. 14 at 10:30 a.m. for Andrew J. Carroll who died Monday, Aug. 11, 1980, on his 90th birthday.
Born Aug. 11, 1890 at Upper Verde, Arizona Territory. Mr. Carroll lived in Arizona all his life, accept for service in World War II.
A retired miner, he had worked for such companies as the Jerome, Bagdad, Crown King and Iron King mines and had operated his own mine near Dewey, called the Yaba Copper Company.
Mr. Carroll was also a member of the VFW chapter in Mayer. He and his father, Andrew Sr., helped build the Mayer School House before World War II.
He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Anna Carroll Tryon and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the Ruffner Funeral Home. Bishop William W. Townsend of the Prescott First Ward of the Church of the Latter-Day Saints will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Ruffner Funeral Home.
The Yavapai Veterans Council will provide graveside services at the cemetery.
