Greer’s Mortuary of Winslow, Winslow, Arizona James A. Henling November 06, 1945 - July 28, 2014 James A. Henling , 68, passed away on July 28, 2014 in Mesa, AZ. Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM, Friday, August 08, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 09, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Celebrant, Father Jeffrey King. Burial Will follow in Holbrook City Cemetery. Jim was born on November 6, 1945 in Gallup, New Mexico to John and Sarah Koury Henling, but he lived in Holbrook from the time he was five days old until he attended Arizona State University. After earning his bachelor of science degree in mathematics and physics, he taught math at Winslow High School for 33 years and in the evenings at Northland Pioneer College for 27 years. He earned his master’s degree in education from Northern Arizona University in 1974. He married Janice Quinton in Holbrook on March 22, 1975. He enjoyed fishing at Lake Roosevelt, at Lee’s Ferry and in Mexico and Alaska. He also liked playing cards, camping and traveling with family and friends. Survivors include, wife Janice of Winslow; his two sons, Ray (Kasey) of Austin, Texas and Steve (Kim) of Winslow; five grandchildren; his brother, John (Anita) of Winslow and many cousins, nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, Barbara Ann and a teenage brother, Dick who was a Vietnam Veteran. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E.
