FRAWLEY,
Jeannine Kay
(Maiden Name: Short)
The White Mountain Independent,
Show Low, Arizona ~ 08/01/2014
Jeannine Kay (Short) Frawley was received into the arms of her beloved Savior, Jesus Christ, July 21, 2014. She was born July 27, 1940, in Elwood, Ind., to Fred and Dorothy Short, the oldest of four children.
Jeannine married the love of her life, Jerry Frawley, Nov. 16, 1957. God blessed their marriage with the births of three children, Bob, Lisa and Candace.
Jeannine and Jerry felt the calling of God to be missionaries to the Native American people on the reservations of Arizona. They packed up their belongings, said goodbye to family and friends, and made the decision to leave their childhood home of Indiana and head to Arizona.
Their first place of ministry began in Tuba City in 1969. Their love for the Native American people took them to Cibecue, Whiteriver, Canyon Day, Carrizo and Laveen.
While ministering to the Apache people, two Apache boys were added to their loving home with the addition of their sons, Mike and David. Their 44-year long ministerial career also included Show Low, La Grange, Ind., St Johns, Concho and Benson before concluding in Willcox in 2013.
As a preacher’s wife, Jeannine’s ministry centered around her love of children. She ministered in children’s church, Vacation Bible School, missions, church camps, women’s ministries and countless other duties involving her husband’s ministry.
Jeannine’s unconditional love for her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was never doubted for even a minute by her family. They all knew she loved and cared for them dearly. Her home was never lacking in love, and she never turned anyone away from her door whether they were friend, stranger or critter. She was a great cook, and no one ever left her table hungry.
She was a loving wife of 56 years to her best friend and husband, a caring and devoted mother to her children, and a cherished Ammas to her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and numerous faithful friends.
Jeannine was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Dorothy Short; brothers Fred and Gary Short; sister Gloria Short; and stillborn son Kevin Frawley.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Frawley; children Bob (Bobbi) Frawley, Lisa Plumley, Mike Reed, Candace (Andree) Frawley and David Frawley; grandchildren Michael Frawley, Brian (Sara) Plumley, Christy (Joel) Baltrus, Brandon (Debi) Plumley, Brenton Plumley, Isiah Frawley, Cody Reed, Colton Reed, Joseph Frawley and Skyla Frawley; great-grandchildren Trayton Lunt, Emily Plumley, Joshua Plumley, Madison Plumley, Logan Frawley, Chase Plumley, Trenton Plumley, Zephan Baltrus, Adante Frawley, Asher Baltrus, Avery Baltrus and Irish Frawley.
“Our rich and treasured memories will keep us going until we see our precious Jeannine/Mom/Ammas in Heaven where she will be with Jesus waiting for our reunion. We love you, Sweet Lady.”
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, in Benson, at the J6 Community Bible Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to hospice: Casa De La Luz Foundation, 7740 N. Oracle Road, Tucson, AZ 85704.
