WHINNEN, Anna

(Maiden Name: Stevens)

News-Herald (Martinez AZ) Saturday, April 16, 1904, p 1 Pioneer Lady Gone Mrs. Anna Whinnen of Congress died last Saturday at the advanced age of 75 years. She leaves a son, Edward, and a daughter, Mrs. Chynoweth, to mourn her loss. The funeral procession was one of the longest ever seen in Congress. Rev Black conducted the funeral service at the church. He delivered an address full of pathos and tender sympathy, and referred in a touching manner to the passing of the Arizona pioneers, of which Mrs Whinnen was a noble representative. She lived in Tombstone and other Arizona towns in early days and knew the hardships of those troublous days. Peace to her soul!
