Funeral Plans Announced for Mrs. S. R. Davis
Funeral services for Mrs. Susie Robbins Davis, 80, who died here Sunday in a local hospital, will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, at the Ruffner chapel. Dr. Charles Franklin Parker will officiate.
The Order of the Eastern Star will have a service at Funeral home and burial will be private. Friends who wish to call may do so between 6 and 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Mrs. Davis was brought to Prescott in an ox-drawn wagon. Because of Indian raids, cavalrymen frequently held up the wagon-train in which her parents, Hattie and James William Robbins brought the two-year old girl here from Arkansas. That was in 1876, and the trip took four months and nine days.
Mrs. Davis, an Eastern Star member, was married in 1893 to Nelson J. Merrill and in 1904 to Walter E. Davis, who died in 1943. Her home since 1931 had been at 864 Valley St.
One daughter survives, Mrs. Maude M. Day, of Santa Barbara, Calif., as well as two brothers, Robert M. Robbins, of Prescott and Willis Robbins of Los Angeles; a sister, Mrs. Naomi Redmond, San Leandro, Calif.; nephews, Herbert H., Robinson, San Leandro, Calif., Robert A. Robbins, Tucumcari, N.M., Richard O. Robbins, Dallas, Tex., Thomas M. Robbins, Prescott, Sam, George, Mark and Robert Beebe, of Tucson; nieces, Florence Cuber, Los Angeles, Lois Bradberry, Phoenix, Roxie Hutson, Gila Bend, and Rhoda Dean of Phoenix.
Mrs. Davis's brother, Willis Robbins, and Herbert Robinson, will arrive here today to attend services.
