On July 25, 2014, Robert Dee Edwards lost his battle with cancer and passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side.
Known as “Uncle Bob” he was born on Oct. 5, 1945, to Albert and Verma Edwards in Phoenix.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Johnnie, three sons Tom (Tracy), Mike (Tracy), and Shannon (Brenda); two sisters Delynn (Chuck) and Diane (Joe); nine grandchildren Clarissa, Thomas, Bunnie (Adam), Tinker, Jeremy, Dylan, Soda, Taylor, and Cassidy; two great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Owen; and many nieces and nephews with whom he had a special bond in his heart, Ronnie, Josh, Aaron, Amanda, Andrea, Jon and Eric.
In March of 1965 Bob married the love of his life Johnnie and their journey of 49 years began. Raising three boys to be respectful, contributing members of society The three boys grew into three fine men. Bob became fire chief in Aguila where he handled the position for 25 years. In 2013 Bob decided to retire and focus on his other passions in life, his Family, hunting, fishing, and the outdoors.
He began to pass on his knowledge and passion to his grandchildren where he gained a special bond with each of them. He always had a smile on his face and always had a warming hug for them but most of all he always made sure they knew he loved them.
Bob will be greatly missed not only by his family but also by his extended family of firemen who knew him as Chief Edwards or Uncle Bob. The surrounding areas included Circle City, Morristown, Congress, Wickenburg, Wittman, Salome and Quartzsite.
Memorial Services were held July 30. A private family service will be held at a later date, to place Bob at his final resting place.
