Kingman resident Paul J. Patula passed away on July 11, 2014, at Sunrise
Hospital in Las Vegas after being airlifted from KRMC in Kingman.
Paul was born on Sept. 28, 1932, to Paul and Irene (Gadzinski) Patula in
Chicago. His family moved to Phoenix in 1946, where the family owned and
operated a gas station and grocery store business near Tolleson. He
enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Korean War.
Paul married Camille Kampert on June 1, 1957, and together they took
over the family gas station, expanding it to include West Phoenix and
Paul's Union Wrecker Service that he operated until 1974, when he moved
his family to Montrose, Colo.
In Montrose, he was employed by Western Gravel Inc., where he wore many
different hats and worked at many different positions, from truck driver
to public relations, until his retirement in 1996 when he moved to
Kingman.
He returned to the workforce for a short time, working at the Kingman
Home Depot in the hardware department.
Paul was a member of the Montrose Elks Lodge for over 30 years. He was a
member of the Marine Corps League and the Korean War Veterans
Association, both of Kingman, and was also a past member of the U.S.
Coast Guard Auxiliary in the Kingman Flotilla.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Camille Patula; a daughter,
Theresa (Larry) Carnahan of Half Moon Bay, Calif., parents of Jeremy
Carnahan and Nichole (Carnahan) Rusher; a daughter, Elizabeth (Randy)
Punches of Henderson, Nev., parents of Justin (JennaLea) Kroschel and
Michael (Jessica) Kroschel; and daughter Christine (Gary) Underhill of
Gold Beach, Ore., parents of Chance Underhill. He also had five great-
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Mark Patula.
Paul donated his body for research and services are being planned for
late September. He will be buried with military honors at the Southern
Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City.
