The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 08/08/2014 Elena T. Parcell died July 30, 2014, in her home in Lakeside surrounded by loved ones. She was born May 9, 1955, to Justino and Maria G. Torres in McAllen, Texas. Elena was born and raised in Texas until she married and moved to California. Her and her husband fell in love with Arizona and chose it to be their home 24 years ago. Elena loved gardening, collecting various items and arrowhead hunting. She was a strong woman who survived a stroke in 2008 and came back with a strong faith in God and a stronger will to live. She was a member of Grace Church in Show Low. She found great joy in spending time with the youth group and prayer groups with whom she formed strong and lasting friendships. She is survived by her husband, Daniel Parcell; son Nicholas Sanders; daughter Melissa R. Pantoja; stepdaughter Jenna Parcell; one grandson and six granddaughters; mother Maria G. Torres; four brothers; seven sisters; two brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; and many more loved ones. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Grace Church in Show Low, with potluck dinner following the memorial in the Grace Church reception room. Silver Creek Mortuary of Taylor handled arrangements.
