GOTT, Abbott Theodore

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Saturday, August 09, 2014 Abbott Theodore Gott On July 26, 2014, Abbott Theodore Gott passed away in Prescott, Ariz. He was born Aug. 25, 1925 in Temple, Texas, to George and Dulcie Gott. He was raised in Texas until he met Viona Schomaker in Lincoln, Neb. There they were married on May 12, 1951, and later had two daughters, Cynthia and Debra. From 1943 to 1968, he served the United States government in three branches, the Marine Corp, Navy and Army. He retired as a Major in the Marine Corp in 1968, but he did not remain idle. For 20 years, he worked for the Pacific Bell Telephone Co. in California. During this time, he also joined his wife and daughters in a study of the Bible and in 1970, he was baptized, alongside his eldest daughter, as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. In 1989, Abbott and Viona moved to Prescott, Ariz., to join their children and grandchildren. Abbott loved to enjoy his train set, play cards and crack jokes. He had a laugh that was contagious, even in his advanced years, and he had a smile that lit up the room. He had a sweet tooth that would put most dessert lovers to shame and we're glad that the last thing he ate was one of his favorite desserts: ice cream. Abbott deeply loved his family and friends, but even more, he loved his God Jehovah. Abbott was preceded in death by his parents and his brother George Andrew. He is survived by his wife, Viona; his children, Cynthia and husband Ken Tanner and Debra and husband Tom Thompson; four grandchildren, Valerie and husband Daniel Brigham, Simon and wife Vanessa Tanner, Jessica and husband Michael Anderson, and Garret Tanner. He is also survived by his nephew Abe Gott; and his cousin Ted Floca. Abbott made every one of our lives better and we dearly love him. We are extremely grateful to Jehovah God for the promised resurrection based on Jesus Christ's ransom sacrifice and can't wait to see his smiling face again. (John 5:28, 29).
