BERNDT, Wendy

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Monday, August 11, 2014 Wendy Berndt passed away July 29, 2014 at home with her loving husband, Paul and family by her side. Wendy was born Aug. 20, 1955, in Hartford, Conn. Her move to Prescott was the beginning of her new life with future husband, Paul. From their first date, they were a perfect match. They fell in love, were married and cherished each other along with the quiet life in the country home they created and shared for over 30 years. Wendy loved cooking and conversation. Her passion for animals led her to open and operate Pet Time pet shop in Prescott Valley for eight years and to volunteer at Noah. An adopted or stray animal could always find a safe haven with Wendy. Wendy joined her husband in his work at Stepping Stones. Together they became a dedicated team for the stores and for their community. Wendy will be deeply missed by her husband, family and friends. Her kindness, love and commitment will always be remembered. She is survived by her husband, Paul Berndt of Prescott, Ariz.; her mother, Marie Highland of Prescott, Ariz.; her sister, Kathy Olivero of Beverly, Mass.; her brothers, Jack Jackson of Nottingham, N.H. and Jeff Highland of Phoenix, Ariz.; and extended family in Nova Scotia and Canada. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to friends, neighbors and Granite Mountain Hospice for their compassion and kindness. A Celebration of Life will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at Prescott Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 945 S. Rancho Vista Drive, Prescott, Ariz. Information provided by survivors.
