SCHILLINGER, Alvin


Vistoso Funeral Home, Oro Valley, Arizona Alvin Schillinger September 17, 1929 - August 3, 2014 Alvin was born in 1929 to Alvin Sr. and Elysee Schillinger, the only child. For much of his life, he grew up on a farm in New York. BA in Geology from Cornell in 1951 and a MS in Mining Geology from Stanford in 1956. He proudly served his country in the Navy from 1951 through 1955. In 1964 he met and married Maxine Isola. They had two sons, Stuart and Thomas Schillinger. He has five grandchildren who were the sparkle of his eye. Joseph, Aaron and Grace (Stuart) and AudreyRose and Madeline (Thom) He worked for the following companies in his career: Calumet and Hecla (Calumet Michigan) from 1956 to 1972. Standard Oil of California (San Francisco) from 1972 to 1974. Tosco Corporation (Los Angeles and Denver) from 1974 to 1983. Regional Transportation District (Denver) from 1983 to 1994. They retired to Tucson, Arizona in 1994. He was a Docent at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum from 1994 until 2014. He was active in the local Watch and Clock club and the Camera Club. He enjoyed fishing with his son and later with the grandsons.
