Alvin Roscoe Morris Jr., 80, of Prescott, Ariz. passed away Monday, Aug. 11, 2014.
Born in Colbert, Ga., he was the only son of the late Roscoe and Clyde Brown Morris and was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Theda M. and M.D. "Red" Hale. Mr. Morris graduated from the University of Georgia with a BBA degree in accounting. He was employed as an auditor by the USAF Auditor General in Los Angeles, Calif. and the Dade County Board of Education in Miami, Fla.
He was drafted in the Army and was given a Scientific and Professional classification and assigned to the Finance office at Fort Belvoir, Va., as a Post Auditor. After he was discharged, he worked for the Ralston Purina Company in Gainesville, Ga., Harris, Pa., Nashville, Tenn., Denver, Colo. and Long Beach, Calif. He retired as an Administrator in the Finance Department of Fluor Daniel, Inc., in Irvine, Calif., a division of Fluor Corporation.
Survivors include three nephews, Larry C. Benton and wife Kathy of Siloam, Ga., Michael E. Hale and wife Lynda of Watkinsville, Ga. and Marcus B. Hale and wife Debbie of Hull, Ga.; niece Jada E. Easterwood and husband Roger of Colbert, Ga.; and several other family members, relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at Colbert City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 15, at Bernstein.
