Rodney Harmon Clifford, 73, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 10, 2014 in Yuma, Arizona. He was born April 29, 1941 in Safford, to Susie Morris and Clarence Clifford. In 1959, Rodney graduated from high school in Safford. His first job was on the family farm, next he worked for Standard Oil at the service station, then he moved up to a Sales Rep, and he finished working for Sears in Safford and Yuma. Rodney was a member of the Kiwanis Club in California and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed football, softball, bowling, and fishing with his grandsons.
Rodney is survived by: his wife Virginia V. Clifford of Yuma; a son, Gregory Clifford of Mesa; two daughters, Carrie Jones of Seattle, Washington and Brenda Palacio of Yuma; a sister, Betty Jo Kouts, of Safford; his brother, Nyle Clifford of Phoenix; three step-daughters, Polly Magness of Flagstaff, Sheila Hutton of Chandler and Brenda Barton of Mesa; sixteen grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. Rodney was preceded in death by: his first wife, Kathleen Clifford; his mother, Susie Morris; his father, Clarence Clifford; and his brother, Bill Clifford.
Funeral services for Rodney will be conducted Saturday afternoon, August 16, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., at Vining Funeral Home’s “Chapel of the Valley”. Concluding services with Tory Palacio, Wyatt Palacio, Anthony Palacio, Austin Clifford, Aaron Clifford, Brock Jones, Levi Jones and honorary bearers Matthew Hutton and Jared Hutton will follow in the Safford Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday evening, August 15th, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Saturday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m., at the Vining Funeral Home.
