Elecio Garcia
Elecio joined a new party in Heaven on the evening of Aug. 7. He passed away in the home he spent 10 years building for his family. He was 57.
“We are truly heartbroken to lose our hero after a 20-month battle with glioblastoma brain cancer.”
He was born June 4, 1957, to Libor and Tillie Garcia in St. Johns. He was raised in Concho as the oldest son of 13 brothers and sisters.
Elecio was taught the value of hard work and unconditional love which made him a loving, generous and kind man. He was extremely funny and always made his family laugh. He was a wonderful husband, dad, brother and son. He was a friend to everyone he met.
As valedictorian of a class of four students in Concho, he went on to St. Johns High School and participated in many clubs and sports. He was a wrestler and placed second at state championships.
After some college, he started a four-year apprenticeship in carpentry. Upon finishing, he was hired as a journeyman C&M man by SRP, where he worked for almost 30 years before his illness. His scaffold building skills are legendary.
Along with many other skills his dedication and work ethic was well respected by co-workers and bosses. His sense of humor and great attitude always made the job seem less like work for them all.
He loved spending time with his wife camping and cruising the White Mountains or just enjoying his yard. Also, he enjoyed being with his sons, riding his Harley, growing a garden and a Budweiser. “We will love and miss him forever.”
He is survived by the “love of his life” and best friend, Cindy; sons Jeremy and B.J. (Heather); and grandson Brody, who was the twinkle in his eyes. He is also survived by his parents, Libor and Tillie, as well as seven sisters and five brothers and their spouses and children.
He was preceded in death by his best bud and father-in-law, John Bride, by only 12 days.
“We are sure they are riding Harleys in Heaven.”
A celebration of life for him and John Bride will be held at noon Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Parish Hall in Concho. Please dress casual in your favorite tie-dye, Harley or band shirts.
“Until we are together again, my honey. I love you truly, party on!”
