Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, Arizona, Wednesday, August 20, 2014 Eileen Hawkins, 90, of Bechtel Tract, Little Acres passed away on Aug. 3, 2014 after a short battle with cancer. She was born on May 8, 1924, the daughter of Hattie and William Lewis. Eileen graduated from Hellier High School in Hellier, Kentucky in 1943 and attended Eastern Kentucky Bible College. Eileen was a homemaker and lived in the area for 40 years. She was a member of Claypool Methodist Church. She moved here from Eagle Mountain, Calif. She was known locally for her doughnuts, cookies, and Cornish pasties. She made cookies and pasties for Gov. Rose Mofford, who was extremely fond of her cooking and baking. She went into assisted living two years ago in Apache Junction. She is survived by her sons, Dr. William Hawkins, PhD of Cleveland, Ohio, and Larry Hawkins of Parker, Colo.; grandchildren, Kelly Gibson of Chandler, Ariz., Kevin Hawkins of Litchfield Park, Kathryn and Andrew Hawkins of Parker, Colo., and Daniel and David Hawkins of Cleveland; great-grandchildren, Brian, Sarah, and Emily Gibson of Chandler, and Amanda and Jared Hawkins of Litchfield Park; and brother, Herbert Lewis of Hellier, Ky. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles S. Hawkins in 1993; and her son, Charles K. Hawkins in 2010. A brief graveside service with close and friends and family will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 22, 2014 at The National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.
