BRODERSON, Carl

Prescott Evening Courier, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, May 16, 1928, page 6, column 7 Ill and Despondent Suicide by Poison Surrendering to the twin evils of hopeless illness and destitution, Carl Broderson, 45, ended his life with potassium Cyanide late yesterday in his cabin at 608 South Granite street. The appearance of the dead man and of the interior of his home indicated that he had bathed and had dressed himself with scrupulous care and that he had gone to some pains to tidy up his cabin immediately before he ended his life. A note was found on a table near the body, which told in the simplest terms of his fight for health, of his destitution and of his ardent desire for death. It also counseled his friends not to go to the trouble of attending his funeral. So far as is known locally Broderson had no relatives in this country. Those closest to him expressed the belief that he has only one relative living, a brother in Germany, with whom he recently has been in correspondence. Coroner Gordon Clark convened a jury this morning at 10 o'clock. After only a few moments' consideration of the evidence they arrived at a verdict of 'suicide by means of potassium cyanide.' A tumbler full of the 'instant death' was found at the side of the body when it was first discovered. Transcriber's note: Mr. Broderson is buried in an unmarked grave at the Citizens Cemetery in Prescott, Arizona.
