HEDGE, Thomas John

Vistoso Funeral Home, Oro Valley, Arizona Thomas John Hedge August 18, 1938 - August 16, 2014 Tom was born in Chicago, Illinois to John & Florence Hedge. He was an only child. He graduated from Luther South High School in Chicago and attended Northern Illinois University. During school he worked at Cracker Jack and then Northwest Airlines. After finishing school he went to work at AT&T where his career lasted 30 years. At the age of 20, he married Corinne Bonas and they had 3 girls, Wendy, Marilou & Jill. They divorced and in 1985 he married Joni Sanborn. After retiring from AT&T Tom drove a school bus for Down syndrome kids for 3 years – a job he thoroughly enjoyed. He also taught CDL classes for new drivers. In 1993 Tom & Joni moved to Oro Valley, Arizona where he went to work at the Hilton El Conquistador as a driver, finally retiring after another 18 years. Throughout his life Tom was an active bowler and enjoyed poker games as well as annual trips to Las Vegas for Super bowl. He was an active member of Ascension Lutheran Church serving as Elder, Usher and choir member. He also performed in numerous church plays. His daughters were his pride and joy and he cherished the times he got to spend with his 5 grandchildren. Tom Hedge was a devout Christian, a true gentleman and an all around good guy and will be missed by all who knew him.
