EDWARDSON, Vona Jo

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Tuesday, August 26, 2014 Vona Jo Mortensen Edwardson, of Chino Valley, Ariz., passed away Aug. 19, 2014. She was born in Leupp, Ariz., on Jan. 15, 1936, with, as her mother recalled, only Navajos as neighbors and Vona's dad, Udell as the doctor. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lee Edwardson. Her son, William Devlin Hancock, also preceded her in death. Vona Jo is survived by her sons Daniel Carl Hancock (Linda) and Timothy John Hancock (Lori); and her daughter Susan Briskey (Dennis). Vona Jo was adored by her 11 grandchildren and has 16 great grandchildren, with at least one more on the way. Vona Jo was the fifth of six children, and is survived by her brothers Larry Mortensen (Carole) and Val Mortensen (Diane); her sister Arleen Herbert; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her brothers Leone and Kent preceded her in death. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 441 W. Perkinsville Road, Chino Valley, with a service to follow at 11 a.m. Interment at Chino Valley Cemetery following the service. Arrangements entrusted to Sunrise Funeral Home, Prescott Valley, Ariz.
