RIETZ, Loma Jean

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Sunday, August 31, 2014 Loma Jean Rietz, 86, of Prescott, Ariz., passed away Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014. She was born Oct. 30, 1927, in Dougherty, Okla., to Jake and Ora (Call) Elkins. Loma graduated from Dougherty High School prior to moving to Morenci, Ariz., in 1946. This is where she met and married her husband, Joe Rietz. Together they founded Joe's Furniture in 1955, and then they eventually added a second location in Clifton, Ariz. In 1971, her husband passed away and she continued to operate the business until 1985. The business was relocated to Prescott by her only son shortly after, and Loma continued to inspire the family business until her passing. She is survived by her son, Joe E. (Debbie) Rietz of Prescott; four grandchildren, Eric (Nicole) Rietz of Henderson, Nev., Dawn (Gabe) Hornelaz of Prescott, Sean Rietz of Prescott and Kelly Rietz of Austin, Texas; six great-grandchildren, Jordon of Prescott, Alicia, Emma and E.J. of Henderson, Nev., Janet O'Neal of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Whitney Hornelaz of Safford, Ariz. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 5, 2014, at Highland Center, 1375 S. Walker Road, Prescott.
