WISELUS, Rick Michael (Spider)

Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, Arizona, Sunday, August 31, 2014 Rick Michael Wiselus (aka “Spider”), 62, Flagstaff, AZ “May the joys of today be those of tomorrow. The goblets of life hold no dreg of sorrow.” Born October 25, 1955 in Milwaukee, WI, raised by Dorothy Wiselus, who did her best to raise her family on her own. Rick was a well-behaved child who always loved education and enjoyed spending a lot of time with his Grandpa Condiff, who influenced him greatly. Well-liked growing up, he had many friends, spent summers on Lake Geneva creating mischief for the neighbors. After graduating high school, he joined the military at age 17 without his mother’s permission, serving from 1969 to 1973. During his four years as a proud Marine, he was an avionics technician where he became interested in computer technology. After being honorably discharged he attended Maricopa Technical Community College in Phoenix, obtaining an Associate in Arts degree. While attending school, Rick met his former wife and mother of his two boys, Claudia. They married in 1974, and went on to have two children, Justin in 1977, and Josh in 1980. They lived happily in Phoenix, where he worked at Intel, later moving to Flagstaff in 1986, where he began a 20+ year career with Northern Arizona University, as a field service technician. He also started his own business as a computer technician, Computer Wise, in 1986, serving Northern AZ. Throughout his life Rick had a passion for riding his Road King to every stretch of the US and some parts of Canada. He spent most of his spare time traveling, working for Toys for Tots, and riding his Harley with his friends and son wherever he could get them to go. Rick was a huge asset to our community, involved in multiple charities and always there when you needed him and never asked for much in return. Rick was diagnosed with leukemia in 2002 and lost his battle with the illness on a sunny Saturday, August 23, 2014. His absence will be felt greatly from coast to coast. He leaves behind his mother Dorothy, his father Pat, his sons Justin and Josh, and two half-sisters, Colleen and Julie. He was preceded in death by his children’s mother Claudia and John Wiselus, who helped raise him. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 6, beginning at the American Legion, 204 W Birch Ave.in Flagstaff, at Noon, then a patriot ride departing at 1pm to his property at 10 Pine Ridge Rd., Flagstaff, where a 21 gun salute and celebration of his life will follow.
